The AAMC is seeking proposals for 20 minute interactive presentations during the Friends of FRAHME knowledge sharing session at Learn Serve Lead 2026: The AAMC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA.
The Friends of FRAHME session will take place Sunday, Nov. 8 from 5:45-7:15 p.m. and presenters must attend in person.
Topics
We are interested in how all types of arts and humanities mediums (visual arts, performing arts, history, literature, etc) are being used across the continuum (in pre-med, undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education environments) for teaching and assessing the Foundational Competencies:
- Professionalism topics such as ethical decision-making, humanity in an AI age, civil discourse, respect for patient autonomy and dignity, and professional identity formation.
- Patient Care and Procedural Skills topics such as empathy and compassion, clinical observation skills, understanding pain and suffering, navigating AI in patient care, and cultural humility.
- Medical Knowledge topics such as anatomy and physiology, disease and illness, and social determinants of health.
- Practice-Based Learning and Improvement topics such as reflective practice, uncertainty and vulnerability, feedback and failure, and bias in clinical decision-making.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills topics such as active listening, delivering bad news, cross-cultural communication, and shared decision-making.
- Systems-Based Practice topics such as health policy and advocacy, access to care, and interprofessional roles and boundaries.
- Well-Being topics such as burnout prevention, emotional regulation, gratitude and joy in medicine, and peer connection and community.
