Meet @Colin Daly, who just became Director of Stewardship, at the Medical College of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, two months ago. He wasted no time in getting acquainted with his peers and attended the GIA conference that was held April 5-7 in Chicago.

When asked about the experience, Colin noted:

"The GIA conference was an exciting event that helped me meet some fantastic people in our field. It was great to learn about how other campuses have been able to start to recover from the pandemic and what the future will look like."

Do you have a professional skill or area of expertise that might be of particular interest to your peers in this community?
I am brand new to my role, but I have a lot of event planning, relationship building, supervision, and creative experience.

What was the best TV show you most recently watched that you watched?
"The Dropout" on Hulu is pretty captivating. I've really enjoyed it.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you have ever received?
Value your relationships. How you work with others will determine your success in the future and help you achieve things you didn't think were possible.
What do you hope to gain from this online community?
A strong network to develop connections to share best practices and think creatively.

Did you have an unusual path to your current career?
I recently made the leap from a traditional institution of higher education to this field because I believe in the impact on the community can be felt immediately. I am excited about the prospect of connecting with donors to thank them for investing in us and in the community.

How do you prefer to start your day?
I like to workout, pet my dog, drink lots of water, and catch up on my news and social media feeds. Helps me get in the mindset that I'm ready to tackle the day.

You’re throwing a dinner party and can invite 3 people (alive or dead). Who do you invite?
Ina Garten, because she's the queen of dinner parties and is a personal hero. Michelle Obama, because she's friends with Ina and I found her book very inspiring. Eliza Hamilton, as she led an incredible life and could enthrall us with her stories.

You live/work in Milwaukee. What’s your favorite restaurant there? Is there something special we should check out next time we visit?
Milwaukee is full of amazing food! One of the best places to eat is Lake Park Bistro - a French-inspired restaurant that has won many awards and has an amazing view of Lake Michigan.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a lawyer for some reason. I think it's because I thought that's what would make my parents the most proud of me. However, they told me to pursue my passion no matter what it is, because then you'll never work a day in your life.

Do you have pets?
My dog, Woodford is the best! He's 50% beagle and 50% other kinds of terriers. He's the best cuddler in the world and will do anything for treats.
