On Jan. 27, AAMC president and CEO David J. Skorton, MD, announced two upcoming leadership transitions at the AAMC: @Karen Fisher, JD, chief public policy officer, and Janis Orlowski, MD, chief health care officer, have both decided to retire from the AAMC on July 1, 2022. It is only by coincidence that the timing lined up this way, as both Janis and Karen have recently retired spouses and look forward to spending more time with family, traveling, and enjoying their many outside interests. They will continue to provide leadership in their respective areas through June to help ensure a smooth transition. The AAMC will conduct a national search for both positions, and Skorton noted his commitment to considering a diverse slate of candidates for both roles.
