The AAMC and its member institutions are actively working to advance medical research, education, and clinical care that address substance use disorders. Negative or stigmatizing attitudes of health professionals toward patients with substance use disorders have been described as common and contributing to suboptimal health care for these patients. As part of the AAMC’s ongoing efforts to support its members in advancing educational practices in pain management and substance use disorders, the association is partnering with the National Institute on Drug Abuse to commission a systematic literature review of health care professionals’ bias and stigma related to addiction and mitigation efforts.
The educational research team that is chosen will receive up to $30,000 to conduct the review.
Proposals are due July 2.
