We want to remind you that the AAMC has national and state-level data on the economic impact of medical schools and teaching hospitals.
For example, AAMC member institutions:
- support more than 6.3 million jobs in the United States,
- generate about 3% of the U.S. GDP, and
- contributed more than $562 billion in value to the national economy (in 2017).
This data may be particularly useful as you have conversations with community leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
