Summer Reading List?

    Posted 05-26-2020 08:17:00 AM

UPDATE: Compiled book list posted here.

We’re interested in putting together a Summer Reading List for members of our AAMC virtual community.  Any recommendations?  Reply here with the name of the book you recommend and we'll distribute the full list soon.  Both professional and read-for-fun suggestions welcome.

    I'll get us started!

My professional recommendation (especially for those working in communications) is "Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die" by Chip & Dan Heath. It's a great read for those thinking about communications strategies and campaign planning.

    Book - Made to Stick

For fun, I just finished "Furiously Happy" by Jenny Lawson. It's hilarious and heartbreaking all at once - a great collection of personal stories from an author who is exploring her lifelong battle with mental illness.

    Book - Furiously Happy

Good choice! I've started it a few different times, but always get distracted.

    Stephanie,

I just read the "Made to Stick" as well. It offers a number of examples and summarizes the key points at the end. Highly recommend.

    Thanks,
    Miso

I enjoyed "Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup" by John Carreyrou. This is the Theranos/Elizabeth Holmes story as researched and told by the Wall Street Journal reporter who published the first investigative articles about the company.

I agree with Bad Blood and I appreciate the other suggestions.
I would recommend: "The Coddling of the American Mind" by Lukianof and Haidt
