  • 1.  Question of the Week Jan. 13-17): Goal Setting

    Posted 01-15-2020 11:29:00 AM

Can you believe we're already three weeks into the new year? Time is flying!

We set goals at the AAMC on a fiscal year schedule, but in January each calendar year, I still can't help thinking about my professional (and personal) resolutions, goals, and plans. Whether it's through professional goal-setting or focusing on a personal note, I've been encouraged to identify a phrase or idea to center my year around, and I'd love to hear what you have in mind. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this post.

While I haven't quite settled on my 2020 intention yet, I'm thinking about "a little progress each day adds up to big results." This helps me to not feel overwhelmed by the work ahead and realize that we can achieve great things even if in the day-to-day it doesn't feel like that.

What intentions are you setting for 2020?

    Stephanie,

Thank you for your post.  My intention for the coming year is to continue working for the health equity of rural women in Arizona, as well as working with major stakeholders to increase the availability of Primary Care Residencies in rural areas.  If we as a nation really see the need for better health care in underserved areas, we must support the idea that clinicians will often stay where they train.  Not only would this increase clinicians in underserved areas, but it will also have a positive effect on the economy.
