  • 1.  Faculty Needs/Training Survey for Faculty Development

    Posted 05-16-2022 01:08:00 PM
    Hello Colleagues,

I am looking to receive feedback and information about faculty needs and training surveys that you have developed, or thoughts to consider when developing surveys for faculty development.

Additionally, if anyone is willing to share their faculty needs survey that would be helpful.

I am happy to schedule a time to meet for more in-depth discussions around faculty needs and training survey development.

    Thank you,

I'm not sure if it's exactly right but the StandPoint Faculty Engagement Survey was the first thing that came to mind. Other than that, @Juan Amador and the Group on Faculty Affairs might have some relevant resources.

    Hi Vincent -

You might want to look at information on needs assessment for faculty development, both within and outside medical education. Here are some things to start with:

Pololi, Linda H. MBBS1,5; Dennis, Kay EdD, RN2,6; Winn, Gloria M. MS3,7; Mitchell, Jim PhD4,8 A needs assessment of medical school faculty: Caring for the caretakers, Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions: Winter 2003 - Volume 23 - Issue 1 - p 21-29

    Hi Vincent,

From my personal experience, here's an article you might find helpful, Targeted Simulation Instructor Course for Nursing Professional Development Specialists: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27846078/

This faculty development survey and needs assessment was targeted towards simulation-based education needs for nurses, but the framework and general approach, taking into account the learners' and department's needs, would work for other applications and disciplines.

    I hope this helps!
