Next Tuesday, March 30, is National Doctors’ Day, and we’re offering some ideas below for recognizing the contributions of individual physicians in your life, in your institution, or in your community.
Ideas for individuals:
- Write a thank you note to a physician
- Deliver a red carnation—the symbolic flower of Doctors’ Day—to a physician
- Make a charitable gift to a healthcare organization in a physician’s name
- Donate blood in honor of a physician
Ideas for organizations:
- Order lunch or food treats for medical staff in your office or department
- Remember to acknowledge locum tenens and other interim/visiting physicians
- Invite patients to leave thank you notes to physicians at your institution; or set up a comment section on your website to collect/display messages of appreciation
Please share additional ideas with peers here by replying to this post. We’d also be delighted if you use this platform to acknowledge specific physicians who have made an impact in your life—we welcome those stories, too.
