  • 1.  For Your Learning Friday: Do you have a “strategic mindset”?

    Posted 11-06-2020 08:46:00 AM

You’ve probably heard about the concept of “grit” and know that the qualities of determination and learning-from-failure can lead to success. A new study has shown that people with a strategic mindset make better progress on goals that are long-term, important, and unfamiliar. Moreover, the study showed that having a strategic mindset can be cultivated. By asking questions such as “What can I do to help myself?”, “How else can I do this?”, or “Is there a way to do this even better?” you can prime yourself to generate and use strategies to tackle new challenges and ongoing difficulties.

Learn more about the concept of strategic mindset, and take a look at some key questions that can help you cultivate that way of thinking.

Bill, Thank you for this interesting article - it is a well constructed study. We have been incorporating growth mindset learning into our UME, GME, and CPD/Faculty Development initiatives and this offers a new perspective and many opportunities. Thank you!
