Elliott Masie, an expert on learning and workplace productivity, has offered observations on how the pandemic has impacted employee learning and professional development:

    1. Digital learning is exploding.
    2. Learning tools must be simple.
    3. Learning deserves design.
    4. Employees want to be supported workers, not students.
    5. Empathy is a key "E" in e-learning.
    6. Digital learners need breaks.
    7. Online learners want office hours.
    8. Digital learners need support and job aids.
    9. Social issues matter.
    10. Gather data from pandemic learning.

I could not agree more. Especially in the past six months with all of our AAMC affinity groups having moved online, we have witnessed how quickly groups have adapted to new virtual formats.  In particular, they are eager to maintain their ability to network and engage on timely topics.  We're taking insights like this into account as we plan for AAMC learning opportunities over the coming months and years.

How has learning and professional development changed for you over the past 6 months?
