AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program leaders are interested in learning more about how Host institutions determine the number of elective rotations they will offer, relative to the number of residency programs available at their institutions. For example, an institution might offer residency programs in 9 specialty areas yet only offers elective rotations for 3 of those specialties. We’d like to understand more about why this might be. Recognizing that specialties vary in recommending/requiring clinical rotations, what are some other factors that influence your institution’s decisions about clinical rotation opportunities?
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to this conversation.
