The Rise of Wellness Initiatives in Health Care: Using National Survey Data to Support Effective Well-Being Champions and Wellness Programs presents data from two recent surveys of health care professionals highlighting common elements of wellness programming. The report discusses how medical schools and teaching hospitals can develop and support wellness initiatives and their leaders. Among the key findings, a large majority of institutions have at least one wellness program, but the breadth of those programs varies widely.

In my last role, I rolled out a 'Caring for you and team' weekly newsletter with tips, articles, and trainings around self-care and wellness for our employees. We hired a Chief Wellness Officer to take a deeper look at our infrastructure across the organization and began running peer-to-peer resiliency trainings.

What are you and your institutions doing for you and your students, staff and faculty to support wellness? How do you hope things focus on well-being moving forward? Share with us here.

Want to learn more? The report will be the focus of a session during Learn Serve Lead 2021: The Virtual Experience, Nov. 10 at 2 pm ET. Join the discussion live with @Jon Alan Courand, @mona abaza, @Serina Neumann and Catherine Florio Pipas.

So excited to see the release of this publication! It represents an incredible effort from members of the CFAS Faculty Resilience Committee exploring a topic front-and-center on the mind of many in the academic medicine faculty community: our wellbeing and the resources devoted to ensuring and supporting it.

As someone who works closely on wellbeing internally for our students, faculty and staff and in promoting wellbeing in our community at large, this survey starts to address the discussion of what we are doing and should be doing on this important topic. I'd love to hear more about what you are doing in your organizations and I'm happy to share more about my experience here and in our session. I hope you can join us live or in discussion with us here.  The AAMC publication is just the first step in providing a better definition, an evolving structure and set of available resources for those individuals who serve in the many types of wellbeing champion positions. Excited to expand on this discussion!

Thank you @Jon Alan Courand, @Catherine Pipas, @mona abaza and @Serina Neumann for an amazing session at LSL. And to all who attended, and shared during the session such as @David Musick - I hope you will all continue to share how you are using the recommendations and progressing at your institutions. Don't forget that the AAMC does have some other great resources that you can utilize as well. But, this is your space to connect and share moving forward and I can't wait to hear how you advance such a timely and important topic.

Food for thought - the following article from HBR, titled Research: Women Leaders Took on Even More Invisible Work During the Pandemic
popped up on my LinkedIn feed and I'd love to hear your thoughts -
