  • 1.  AAMC receives CDC award to build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines

    Posted 03-15-2021 11:09:00 AM

The AAMC has been awarded a $2 million cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the nonresearch funding opportunity, Improving Clinical and Public Health Outcomes through National Partnerships to Prevent and Control Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Disease Threats (award no. 1 NU50CK000586-01-00). The funding will support work over the next several months to engage and equip AAMC member institutions to build trust and promote confidence in COVID-19 vaccines by empowering health care personnel and, as the vaccines become more readily available, communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 across the country. As part of this initiative, the AAMC will engage member institutions in outreach efforts to collaborate with their communities to communicate transparently and dispel myths around the COVID-19 vaccines with the goal of increasing vaccination rates in the United States. The award aligns with the objectives of the CDC's National Strategy to Reinforce Confidence in the COVID-19 Vaccine.

    The
AAMC will provide more information on an ongoing basis. If you have questions, please contact project lead @Jennifer Bretsch here in the community or via email at jbretsch@aamc.org.

With President Biden's recent announcement that all adults in the United States will be eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccine by May 1, the AAMC is pleased to announce a $2 million cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Improving Clinical and Public Health Outcomes through National Partnerships to Prevent and Control Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Disease Threats. Through this CDC-funded initiative, the AAMC will engage its member medical schools and teaching hospitals in outreach efforts to collaborate with their communities to communicate transparently and dispel myths around the COVID-19 vaccines with the goal of increasing vaccination rates in the U.S.
