In my neighborhood we have started a Going on a Bear/Zoo Hunt.
Parents are using these Bear/Zoo hunts to encourage subjects such as mapping, coloring, naming, math, writing, etc.
We change the animals up every week and announce it on our neighborhood listserv.

In case you need an uplifting read… here in Washington, DC, random sightings of Ellie the horse have caused a bit of local buzz and a lot of joy-especially to children who have never seen a horse in person before. I'm reminded of the healing power of animals, which perhaps we need now more than ever.
