During Mental Health Awareness Month, the May issue of Academic Medicine is devoted to the topics of mental health and well-being.
A new episode of the Academic Medicine Podcast features a conversation with Christopher Veal, a soon-to-be medical school graduate and author of a commentary in the May issue, and Richard Page, MD, dean of the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Veal starts the conversation by telling the story of his mental health journey as a medical student, and they discuss medical student mental health, the barriers to students and physicians seeking treatment and disclosing their distress, and how medical schools can better support students to preserve overall mental health.
