Leadership presence is "an interconnected system of a leader's beliefs and assumptions, communication skills and physical energy that influence the way the leader is perceived by others" (Su and Wilkins, 2013). Leadership presence is closely related to mindfulness – the mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment. Being present, as a leader, means offering your undivided attention to others. It is easier said than done.
