A recent article by Jim Olson in Fast Company (subscription may be required, can also read it here on LinkedIn), explains the concept of “consequential leadership.”
He cites Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a current example of someone who exhibits the 5 virtues of consequential leadership:
1) Conviction: understands and honors their purpose, talent, influence
2) Courage: possesses the fearlessness to live their purpose
3) Composure: thrives under fire and in times of great uncertainty
4) Communication: communicates frequently, authentically, and truthfully—delivering hard truth as well as realistic hope
5) Compassion: puts serving others ahead of serving themselves
Olson notes, “While most leaders measure their success in the world, consequential leaders measure their significance on the world.”
Have you heard this term “consequential leadership” before?
