  • 1.  Match 2020-2021 Proposed Recommendations

    Posted 03-30-2020 10:16:00 PM

    Dear All,

I summarized last week's discussion into three principles and some recommendations under each. Could you please edit/ add in preparation for our call on Thursday.

    1. Implement a  process which  is equitable, student-centered, and aligned with all stakeholder needs
      1. Promote parity in opportunity among all students, considering newer and more established schools, allopathic and osteopathic schools
      2. Vet recommendations through representative stakeholders (various types of schools, programs, learners)
    2. Promote a value-driven approach understanding limited resources both for students and institutions
      1. Limit number of applications
      2. Limit numbers of audition electives
      3. Permit virtual interviews
    3. Align Match timeline with accommodations made for curricular changes secondary to COVID-19 pandemic.
      1. Consider shift in Match calendar to later in year

Agree with those sentiments. Also, would consider alignment of all match dates (i.e. elimination of early match/ SF match).

I apologize if this is addressed in a different discussion forum, but has there been any discussion of a recommendation to the NBME to plan on allowing schools to proctor Step 1 and Step 2 CK within their own settings, or planning a long term delay for Step 2 CS?

Very cool suggestions. I was having trouble connecting via Webex at home so was on the phone line. Learning a lot from the group discussions- thanks
