A new approach to leading organizational change

  • 1.  A new approach to leading organizational change

People working within our academic medicine institutions are facing multiple organizational change efforts that lead to varying levels of disequilibrium.  Sound familiar? What are some of the most vexing challenges you are facing?  And what additional resources might benefit you in supporting that organizational change, leading your team, and maintaining your own resilience?

I was fortunate to participate in the 2009-10 cohort of Leading Organizations to Health (LOH), and that experience dramatically enhanced my approach to leading change. Since then, I have been a practitioner and teacher of relational leadership practices, and now am part of the team creating the next generation of LOH, within the
Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)'s leadership development portfolio.

LOH is a dynamic and experiential six-month program incorporates the best of adaptive leadership principles, positive psychology, complexity science, change management, and relationship-centered care. It is intended to prepare the academic medical community to address the most complex challenges in their organization, including the often-neglected relational dimension of change work.

I encourage colleagues in academic medicine and related associations and societies to learn more about this program that will launch in September 2023! And I would be happy to chat in this community or offline to answer any questions about this unique leadership cohort opportunity.
