The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and our Center for Health Justice responded to the Office of Managment & Budget's (OMB) request for info re: race and ethnicity data collection.
We advocated for a single self-identification question (select all that apply), a separate Middle Eastern/North African category, detailed disaggregation as the default, and, importantly, additional opportunities for community feedback and intergovernmental collaboration.
Our 1,400-person strong health equity collaborative, AAMC CHARGE, was crucial to developing our letter and to providing direct testimony to OMB.
