Hi Nancy,
Thank you for the question. The LCME only requires the following according to the 2024 requirements: https://lcme.org/publications/
10.5 Technical Standards
A medical school develops and publishes technical standards for the admission, retention, and graduation of applicants or medical students in accordance with legal requirements.
There is no requirement for an attestation or yearly attestation to my knowledge.
The guidance on attestation is likely coming from my text: https://www.docswithdisabilities.org/equal-access-guide (free download) and our webinars with AAMC where I describe the practice of attesting as a positive practice, geared to all learners, to show that the learner received the TS and agreed to them. Now, this is also best practice when the TS follow best practice to include a referral to the disability provider, with specific instructions on how to disclose a disability and request accommodations. We also recommend language that encourages early disclosure and request for accommodation. The practice of yearly attestation is one way to remind learners (all learners) of the TS and the availability of disability resources on an ongoing basis.
I've linked the AAMC resources below, one is from 2020 and the other 2023. I've also attached another book chapter with detailed guidance on technical standards. Happy to answer any questions.
The AAMC webinars can be found here:

Subject: Accreditation and re-attestation of technical standards
Recently the question below arose on the APQI listserve. What is the LCME requirement relative to how often students must attest to their ability to meet a school's technical standards. This seems to be a discussion that needs to take place at a national level and likely generalizes to PA and other programs. Thoughts?
"The DCI does not seem to specify how often this needs to happen – just that it does need to happen, however we've been told by another school that students must attest every year. Has anyone else heard this?"
