After 25 years as a clinician educator of medical students and residents, I have transitioned my career in medical education to incorporate artificial intelligence from a research and teaching perspective. I would like to create a committee through the AAMC that develops a uniform curriculum that can be offered to all medical schools participating in the AAMC on Artificial Intelligence in medical education. I hoping to use the AAMC communities forum to connect physicians across the nation that are professors at medical schools to collaborate on this AI in Medical education project with me with the ultimate goal of publishing this in the journal Academic Medicine and reaching out to the Deans at each college of medicine to help implement this nationwide. Attached is a brief summary of my thoughts on what is cutting edge about AI as it applies to Academic Medicine at the current time,

Feel free to reach out to me directly via email mspeismanmd@gmail.com or cell 708 567-1167 if you would like to collaborate with me on AI and Medical Education projects.

Hi @melvin speisman! Welcome to the AAMC Communities- always great to have another AI enthusiast join us here.

I want to invite you to join our next Community Conversations: AI and Medical Education call on April 3 from 2-3pmET. You can register directly here. The calls are designed to promote conversation and learning with and from colleagues. We will gather everyone, discuss the guidelines for conversations, and allow participants 30-40 minutes to discuss topics in breakout rooms. Participants can move from room to room during those 30 minutes. We will bring everyone back to the main room to share insights, lingering questions, and some basic feedback before closing the call. The topics for this call include:

    • Data trust & transparency- hosted by @Alexis Rossi

    • Missions as a guide for AI

    • Clinical utilization of AI

    • AI training integration into MedEd curriculum - hosted by @Joseph Williams
    • Types of AI used in MedEd- hosted by @Max Anderson

These calls are about bringing our community together to learn, so please share your ideas for future topics!

    Good afternoon Dr. Speisman,

I'm glad to see you are so excited about AI. Have you seen that AAMC and other organizations have launched an International Advisory Committee on AI?

Thanks for your message. I see there's a message from Kaitlin Leaf about "Community Conversations" below. Hope to see you there.

Hi @melvin speisman - I am circling back around to let you know that there is a new "Artificial Intelligence in Health Professions Education" virtual community that is launching. This community is open to anyone globally across the health professions education continuum, and will be a great space for you to share ideas like these to gather traction and network with community members with similar interests. Make sure to introduce yourself when you join! Look forward to seeing you here.
