    Are you involved in creating disability-inclusive environments within medical education? We're excited to invite submissions for case studies that showcase the successful and innovative implementation of reasonable accommodations. Your work can provide invaluable lessons and practical insights for clinical educators and leaders, offering proof of concept that positive change is not only possible but essential.

    This call is part of the October 2025 Academic Medicine supplement, focused on advancing disability inclusion in medical education. As more learners disclose disabilities and as DEI efforts expand to include disability, this supplement will serve as a crucial resource for creating accessible learning environments.

    Submission Guidelines:

    • Length: Up to 2,000 words (excluding title page, abstract, disclosures, references, and exhibits).

    • Organization: Structure your abstract and text under these headings: Background, Approach to Inclusion, Outcomes, Lessons Learned, and Next Steps.

    • Criteria: Detail the time periods, settings, and populations involved, and describe the implementation and outcomes of the accommodation. Discuss structural, policy, and attitudinal changes and share generalizable lessons.

    Timeline:

    • Dec 15: First drafts due.

    • Jan 15: Notification of whether your case will move forward to peer review.

    If chosen for review:

    • May 1: Final manuscripts due.

    • Oct 2025: Publication in Academic Medicine.

    Important Notes:

    All submissions must: 

    • Include a group positionality statement.

    • Include the learner/subject of the case study-submissions that do not include the learner will not be reviewed.

    • We strongly encourage involving a disability resource professional as an author.
