    -        To celebrate both #AAPIHeritageMonth and #JewishAmericanHeritageMonth, I want to share a few stories of individuals with AAPI or Jewish heritage across academic medicine.

    -        I'm inspired by Margaret Chung, MD, who championed women in the military and supported soldiers during WWII, as well as David Ho, MD, whose research was instrumental in turning HIV from a death sentence to a manageable disease. And I admire scientists and physicians like Jonas Salk, MD, who developed the first successful polio vaccine, and Betsy Moses, MD, a gynecologist and obstetrician who advocated for access to contraceptives.

    -        These pioneers, and countless others, saved lives and helped so many, often experiencing intolerance as they did so. Today, it feels more important than ever to listen and learn from one another and celebrate the many voices that make academic medicine stronger.

    -        Who inspires you - from our history and today - as you reflect on these observances?
