Call for stories! Deadline next week
The #DocsWithDisabilities Podcast is currently working on a special project on disability disclosure, and we want to hear from you!
#DocsWithDisabilities is an interview-based podcast that highlights the experiences of healthcare providers with disabilities through critical conversations with the people working to ensure medicine remains an equal-opportunity profession. As part of our Disclosure Series, we are currently collecting personal narratives from students, trainees, physicians, and other healthcare professionals who have personal experience with disclosing (or deciding whether to disclose) a disability or chronic illness.
Narratives can be focused on deciding whether to disclose a disability, what happens after disclosure (whether positive or negative), legal considerations when disclosing, concerns about professional repercussions, or anything else related to disclosure that you feel is important to talk about.
Our goal is to share these narratives in a multi-episode series that unveils the multitude of factors that impact whether or not individuals decide to disclose, discusses what happens after disclosure, and generates knowledge about how to create safe and welcoming spaces that support disclosure. All narratives will be shared anonymously unless contributors explicitly request that their names be included.
Stories can be submitted as an audio file, video file, written narrative, or another form of visual or audio representation. To learn more and share your story go to:
