CBME CoverToday, Dr. Henri Ford and I wrote about the AAMC's new DEI competencies that we believe are paramount to effectively and compassionately caring for patients: "A physician's learning is never finished. We hope that formally integrating DEI competencies in medical education across the continuum of learning will help create environments in which physicians, patients, and their communities can thrive." In response to these recently released diversity, equity, and inclusion competencies, designed to create better doctors and better outcomes for patients, the Wall Street Journal  published a  recent editorial.

@David Skorton, MD, AAMC president and CEO, and Henri R. Ford, MD, dean of the University of Miami medical school and chair of the AAMC Council of Deans, co-authored a letter to the Wall Street Journal in response, to underscore the importance of integrating social determinants of health (SDOH) into education and training.
