Does your health system have a Depression Health Maintenance Topic?

  • 1.  Does your health system have a Depression Health Maintenance Topic?

    Posted 10-15-2025 11:12:00 AM

    Hi all,

I know this is not an e-Consult specific question, but I wanted to ask the CORE community a question related to Depression Screening. Are there any other health systems who have a Health Maintenance Topic specifically for Depression screening? At Yale, we currently do not, but are looking to add one and interested to learn from other systems any best practices or challenges?

    Thank you!

We have not built a Health Maintenance topic, but did build a PHQ-2 into our ambulatory rooming workflow as a Clinical Reminder which satisfies screening for quality measurement.  If positive, a PHQ-9 cascades for either the clinical staff doing rooming or the clinician to complete during the visit.  If the score is 5+ text is added to the AVS.  If 10-14, an OPA (ie pop-up) will prompt for a referral to our behavioral care management team for resources/referrals.  If suicidal ideation is positive we cascade the C-SSRS with referral to social work for more immediate intervention.  Happy to connect you with our behavioral health leads who helped to create these steps!
