    Dear community members,

We are excited to invite you to the upcoming DREAM Research Rounds (Disability Research for Equity and Advancement in Medical Education) Research Rounds featuring Mytien Nguyen:

Topic: Medical Student Burnout by Race, Ethnicity, and Multiple Disability Status
Date & Time: December 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST
    Location: Virtual via Zoom

    Description:
Burnout among medical students is detrimental, contributing to depression, attrition, and long-term consequences. Yet, little is known about burnout risks for underrepresented students by race and ethnicity (URiM) with disabilities, particularly those with co-occurring disability types.

In this webinar, we will examine findings on the prevalence of burnout among URiM students-specifically American Indian/Alaska Native, Black, Native Hawaiian, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander students-who also experience multiple disabilities. We will explore these disparities and discuss potential strategies to address burnout in these groups, fostering a healthier, more inclusive learning environment.

    About the Speaker:
Mytien Nguyen is an MD/PhD student at Yale School of Medicine and an advocate for health equity. She co-founded the National First Gen & Low-Income Medicine Association and works to eliminate barriers for first-generation and low-income students pursuing careers in medicine. Mytien earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cornell University.

This event is sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Disability Research Center, dedicated to shifting the paradigm from "living with a disability" to "thriving with a disability" while maximizing health, equity, and participation for people with disabilities.

We hope to see you there!

    Best regards,
