  • 1.  Final call - Participation in Clinical Mind AI study

    Posted 04-26-2025 06:56:00 PM

    Hello colleagues,

My name is Dr. Marcos Rojas, Project Director of the Clinical Mind AI project at Stanford University. We would like to invite you to participate in a study titled "Feasibility and Acceptability of the Clinical Mind AI Platform for Medical Instructors". This research, conducted in collaboration with Stanford's School of Medicine and the Department of Computer Science, aims to explore the effectiveness of generative AI in simulating patient interactions to train clinical reasoning skills.

Your role in medical education makes you a potential participant in this study. We believe your insights can contribute to understanding the potential of AI in medical training. The study will be conducted entirely online through a Zoom video call. The initial screening process for our study is brief, requiring approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Active participation, which involves engaging with our AI platform and completing questionnaires, is designed to be concise and is expected to take about one hour, though it often concludes in less than that based on our experience with previous research.

To participate in this study, we seek individuals who are at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and actively engaged in medical education as instructors. Also, instructors must belong to an accredited medical school by LCME, located in the United States, and be willing and able to provide informed consent. Unfortunately, we cannot include non-English speakers, those not involved in medical education or from other health professions, underage individuals or those unable to legally consent, or individuals lacking access to necessary technology for digital interaction.

Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without any negative repercussions. If you choose to participate, please be assured of the confidentiality of your responses and the secure handling of all information collected.

This study is supported by the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board. As a token of our appreciation, participants will receive a $25 gift card upon study completion.

If you meet the inclusion criteria and wish to participate, please send an email to clinicalmindai@stanford.edu.

For more information about our project, please visit: clinicalmindai.stanford.edu

For complaints, concerns, or participant rights questions, contact 1-866-680-2906.

    Best,

    Marcos

Hi Marcos -- Thanks for sharing your survey with the Open Forum community! We appreciate you engaging and contributing to conversations that help advance important topics in academic medicine.

I also wanted to let you know about a great additional space where you can share your survey: the Surveys & Research Opportunities sub-community in the AAMC Virtual Communities Network. It's open to all community members and is designed specifically for promoting surveys and research efforts. We're actively working to grow this space, and it could help your survey reach an even broader audience!

You can access it here: Surveys & Research Opportunities Community.
(Quick reminder: surveys posted here have not been reviewed or endorsed by the AAMC.)

Also, did you know? When creating a discussion post, you can cross-post to multiple communities at once! Just use the "Cross-post to" field when you're posting your message. Here's a helpful guide from our community platform, Higher Logic, with step-by-step instructions: Participate in Discussions.

Thanks again for being part of our community and for contributing to the important work happening across academic medicine!
