I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hermela for all her thoughtfulness and hard work this summer as our virtual communities/digital engagement intern! @Hermela Dereje, your contributions have made a meaningful impact, and it's been a pleasure having you on our team. The future is bright with people like you in the world, and I can't wait to see what you accomplish next!
Looking ahead, the AAMC team remains committed to this community space and helping you -- our members -- better engage with your peers by networking, participating in discussions, and sharing resources. As we enter a new academic year, our mission remains the same: to serve and lead the academic medicine community to improve the health of all. We do this by supporting the entire spectrum of medical education, research, and patient care activities conducted by the AAMC's member institutions.
I'm excited for the year ahead and the continued opportunities for collaboration and growth within this community!

Thank you so much for this wonderful message Penny! I've had an enriching internship this summer and working with our team has been such a wonderful experience. Being a part of the virtual communities and engaging with others in the Open Forum has truly been the most special way to spend this summer.
I also want to say a huge thank you to @Penny Schnarrs for being such a great supervisor. She has cheered me along every step of the way and has truly taught me the value of community. Her guidance and support have significantly contributed to my growth, and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to learn from her.
I also want to echo @Brandy Cooper's introduction and express how wonderful it was to work with her. She is an amazing program manager, and her ability to navigate complex challenges with grace and ease is inspiring. I highly encourage you all to connect with her!
Thank you everyone!

As summer draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to first thank our amazing summer intern, @Hermela Dereje who has done an amazing job all summer helping to engage and connect here in the open forum and has been an amazing addition to our small, but mighty virtual communities team. As we prepare to say goodbye this Friday, as she prepares to return to UVA, we want to thank her for all of her help this summer. We wish you all the best as you return full time to your studies and hope we find you back here someday soon, and know you will do great things.
I also want to formally introduce @Brandy Cooper, our virtual communities program manager for the next year. Brandy will be helping with all things related to the community moving forward and you'll be seeing her name and face pop up a lot more, whether here in feeds, on calls, or in emails. Brandy comes to us with a unique background as a past traveling nurse, a certified project manager, a dog and cat mom, resides in Atlanta, by way of Kansas City, and is a great problem solver and empath. We are thrilled to have her on the team. If you want to talk tarot therapy, John Mayer hits, or the importance of healing and self-care - don't hesitate to reach out!
It remains our honor to serve you in this space - YOUR space! Reach out any time to let us know how we can support you in the virtual communities and enjoy the rest of summer!
