In a new Special Report of text and video (https://www.aamc.org/news/never-the-same), AAMCNews spoke with six extraordinary doctors who responded to fatal mass shootings to see how those events challenged and changed them. Unfortunately, mass shootings have become almost routine – there are more than 25 fatal shootings every year – and more health care professionals than ever before will find themselves facing the same tragic circumstances. Has your institution treated victims of mass shootings? What did you do to help the staff cope? Have you initiated plans to prepare for mass shootings and other mass casualty events? How has that worked?
