Hello!  My name is Sonia and I am delighted to be a new member of this amazing community.  I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce my organization, United Against Inequities in Disease (UAID).
UAID is an organization led by students for students and the communities in which they live.  Through our work, we aim to both reduce health inequities in our communities today and also empower public health advocates of tomorrow.
Founded in 2009, we have a robust presence at 15 university campuses (please see complete list here). In addition to completing our unique student-created health equity training, chapters embark on our flagship UAID Community Project - an 8-step research and implementation project that achieves a meaningful, positive impact on health outcomes in students' local communities on a longitudinal time scale (see more details about the process here and examples of previous projects here).  At the national level, our remarkable student leaders also organize regular webinars, host an annual conference, and publish the organization's peer-reviewed research journal.
As we look to the future, we are hoping to improve and expand our work in service of our mission to empower students to  reduce local health inequities.  We would be most grateful to learn from the incredible expertise and experience that you, the AAMC CHARGE community members, have.  If any of you might be interested in getting involved with our work, I would love to hear from you!  Please feel free to contact me through this platform or via email at sonia@uaid.org.
    Thank you for your time!
