Happy Match Day! Sharing two resources here for your non-academic medicine friends and family who might wish to learn a bit more about this special rite of passage:

    Match Day message

Also, for the community's awareness -- the AAMC invites students, residents, faculty, and others to celebrate Match Day with us! Throughout the day, use #Match2023 to tag congratulatory messages with photos and videos of students, faculty, and staff taking part in festivities. The AAMC will also be creating a YouTube playlist of Match videos and a Facebook album with photos from across the country (submissions can be sent to socialmedia@aamc.org or shared here in the community).

#Match2022 was a top trend on Twitter on Match Day 2022, and we hope to have the same success this year with contributions from the medical education community.

How is your institution celebrating Match Day? Let us know - reply to this thread and share photos, videos, or anything else you'd like to highlight for the community!

We also have a curated Google Doc of Match plans from across the country - feel free to add yours: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YdULkzv3uWMTPs2TtAy96QQffiSqmEwuUmjFK9qvPos/edit#gid=0

Whew! Now that we've recovered from Match Day festivities, I'm delighted to share what we did at Geisel this year. Our Alumni Engagement office host a pre-Match reception on Thursday night for all the visitors who came into town and that was very well received; one mom let us know "it's so nice to have a night of something normal amid all the uncertainty." Match Day itself was a beautiful ceremony that I hope to share with you all via the video once it's final.

And lastly, we have a program to bring our alumni into the celebration. I ask alumni to write a note to a Matched student congratulating them on this next step in their career. I try to match students with alumni based on specialty or residency location so that they have something concrete to talk about and the note goes directly to the student. Additionally, we ask their original White Coat Note writers if they'd like to write their student a Match Day note, and most are thrilled to reconnect with their students. It's like a nice bookend to their medical school experience. It's a relatively low lift once I have the final Match List in hand on Friday and it really reconnects alumni to this exciting part of their careers as well as our almost-alumni.

I love this, @Bridget C. Connolly! Thanks for sharing. The message about this moment being that true transition from learner to teacher/decision-maker/etc. is so powerful!

Let us know if/when you add it to YouTube and we can include in the 2023 Match playlist (we currently just have Geisel's ceremony livestream included): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2ALHNlitsuRosx7pzb1l6W5s4YXFAkrm
