  • 1.  Looking for a co-presenter for next year's GIA Conference

    Posted 04-06-2023 10:01:00 AM

For next year's GIA Conference, I am interested in presenting best practices and recommendations on managing up during times of leadership transition. For me, this is the current interim dean and vice deans of our College of Medicine and by the next conference, I will have onboarded a new dean as of Summer 2023. If you have also been a position to manage up with really any role in your institution, I'd love to partner with you to present on this topic. The more minds the better. If you are interested, please reach out to me at sbeers1@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

    Thank you.

    Hi Stacy,
I am new to this forum but the topic you mention is something i can contribute towards/co-present. What is GIS and where can i find more information about this?
As an FYI I serve as EVC and Provost at the University of Missouri in Columbia and we are an Academic Health Center.

Hi @Latha Ramchand, welcome to the Academic Medicine Open Forum.

The conference Stacy is mentioning is the 2024 AAMC Conference for Institutional Advancement April 10-13, 2024 in Boston. The conference is  the leading annual professional development experience for institutional advancement (alumni relations, communications, development, marketing, and public affairs) in academic medicine. This premier event connects leaders for four days of inspiring discussions and collaboration. The conference is sponsored by the Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA). You can learn more about the GIA on our website. Also, here is the 2023 conference site from earlier this month so you can see what it was all about. Please reach out with any questions.

@Stacy Beers looking forward to your proposal the call for submissions will go live soon!
