Dear colleagues:
We are conducting a study examining faculty developers' perspective, career trajectory, and institutional support of faculty developers around the country.
We are seeking adults over the age of 18 to participate in this study. Participants must identify themselves as faculty developers and in a faculty development role at their institution.
We refer to faculty development as a broad and inclusive term, used to describe all activities and supports designed to buttress faculty members within the individual sectors of their work – as well as across and beyond domains of professional growth and effectiveness as faculty members. (Castillo-Montoya, M., Bolitzer, L. A., & Sotto-Santiago, S. (2023). Reimagining faculty development: Activating faculty learning for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Higher education: Handbook of theory and research (Vol. 38, pp. 415–481). Springer International Publishing.)
The online survey takes no more than 10-15 minutes and includes questions about faculty development as a field, your career trajectory, institutional support, and job satisfaction. Finally, it also includes demographic questions. All responses are recorded anonymously so feel free to provide honest feedback.
This research is completely voluntary, and you may stop at any time by closing the browser. There are minimal risks you should be aware of; for example, you may feel uncomfortable answering some of the questions and you may experience fatigue as you complete the survey. To protect your privacy, no questions will be asked that could identify you, and only approved study personnel will have access to the secured study data. The data collected will solely be used for this study. You can also choose not to answer any question that may make you feel uncomfortable. We do not think you will have any personal benefits from taking part in this study, but we hope to learn things that will help other people, specifically faculty developers in the future.
