The AAMC is soliciting nominations for its annual Herbert W. Nickens awards, which honor individuals who advance the educational, societal, and health care needs of racial and ethnic minorities in the United States. The Herbert W. Nickens Award is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to promoting justice in medical education and health care equity. The nomination deadline is March 17. The Herbert W. Nickens Faculty Fellowship recognizes an outstanding assistant-level faculty member who demonstrates leadership potential in addressing inequity in medical education and health care, and the Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarships are awarded to five outstanding students entering their third year of medical school who have shown leadership in efforts to eliminate inequities in medical education and health care. The nomination deadline for both the faculty fellowship and medical student award is April 7.
