  • 1.  ONE Book?

We are considering starting a One Book program.  (If you aren't familiar, the basic concept is that everyone reads the same book, and that you host different activities/ discussions around the book.) Have any of your schools tried that? Have any tips? We are looking for a book that is relatively non-controversial, so that we can bring the community together, rather than polarize it.  So perhaps the Panic Virus, but not American Autopsy. While I really enjoyed it, I think there are members of our community who would stop reading the first time he critiques police actions.

    Thanks, Carolyn

Love this idea. I would participate but could not do so on a monthly basis as I am in other reading clubs. And that seems to be a good starter book. I have not read it but looking at the synopsis - am very interested in it now.

Not monthly, we were thinking more of a ONE book a year, so we can link up activities about it throughout the year.

We have our Common Book program at DGSOM, in which I've participated the last 3 years and have signed up for the fall as well.  Not too many faculty/staff participate, but we've had wonderful conversations about our books every year.
