The increased mobility of the workforce-various analyses claim that people switch jobs every few years, on average-means that it is common for former employees to return to an organization. According to this Harvard Business Review article, 20 percent of all new hires are boomerang employees.
Often, they bring back a fresh perspective with their added experience, and they quickly adapt back into the systems and culture of the employer. There are other pros-and cons-to both the employee and the organization.
