Question of the Week: What would academic medicine's Superbowl ad look like?

I've been thinking about Superbowl commercials over the past few weeks. Bryan Buckley, who has directed more than 50 Superbowl commercials, says the keys to creating a memorable one are:

    1. Effective casting
    2. Know your audience, and understand the current political/social climate
    3. Nail the story

Setting aside the cost prohibitive $7 million price tag, what if the AAMC produced a Superbowl commercial about academic medicine? Who would we cast? What story would we tell? Pitch your best idea!

    Super Bowl ad:

Pregnant patient  in exam room, in a gown. Partner in a chair. Dialogue about how they will know if this new specialist is a good doctor who will take good care of mom and baby.

Cut to AAMC - we set the standards, we make sure... So you don't have to worry if your doctor's medical education was "good enough."

Cut to doctor in white coat introducing himself to patient and partner. How are you feeling? Let's calculate your due date. (Wheels in bedside ultrasound.) It looks like your little one will be joining us around July 2...
