The Restorative Practices in Academic Medicine (RPAM) Facilitator Training offers a powerful framework to assist institutions in moving from reactive responses to proactive, relationship-centered strategies that strengthen the learning environment for all. This program welcomes senior leaders, faculty, and staff from academic health systems and other allied health professional institutions seeking a framework to help prevent, manage, and navigate difficult issues. Participants will learn how to respond to instances of individual and communal harm in ways that support active accountability, deeper understanding, shared decision making, and the prevention of future harms.

The experience begins with a virtual welcome and orientation on July 17, followed by three days of in-person training, August 13–15, 2025, in Washington, DC. Post-training engagement includes two mentoring and coaching sessions to support implementation.

    Agenda Highlights:

    • Restorative Practice: Delve into the principles of restorative practice and learn how to apply them to address conflicts, build trust, and promote healing within academic settings.
    • Facilitation Mastery: Engage in interactive workshops that enhance your skills in guiding restorative circles and dialogues, ensuring productive and empathetic communication among diverse groups.
    • Community Building: Participate in sessions designed to strengthen community ties, encouraging collaboration and mutual respect across departments and disciplines.
    • Sustainable Implementation: Learn how to integrate restorative practices into your institution's policies and culture for long-term impact.
