As of June 27, 2023, the Federal Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act mandates practitioners to confirm completion of a new training requirement (8-hours of education related to substance use disorder management) by checking a box on their online DEA registration form. This applies to both initial registration applications and renewal. Stanford Medicine provides CME activities that meet the DEA-MATE requirement, covering safe opioid prescribing and management, compassionate care, addiction management, and other related topics. The training is tailored to different provider groups, making it more relevant to their needs. Learners can complete the activities at their own pace and in any combination to fulfill their eight-hour training requirement.
