Earlier this week @Patrick Boyle posted about a new data analysis showing that women now account for more than one-third of practicing physicians, and are expanding their presence to become a majority or significant share in many specialties. Even as we discuss the advancement of women in medicine, we should acknowledge that barriers still exist. This feels like a good time to revisit this AAMCNews article from 2022 about a challenge for women surgeons in a male dominated field: finding equipment that fits.
If you have 2 minutes, check out this great video from 1001 Cuts, a storytelling project that highlights the discrimination women in surgery face.
