Academic Medicine Open Forum

Many health systems are working to deploy school-based telehealth services to provide care to pediatric patients in under resourced communities. However, the rapid shift to virtual learning resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has left little time to design and tailor solutions to meet the needs of pediatric populations – in some cases exacerbating access disparities that existed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and creating lapses in health care services. 
 
The AAMC's Advancing Health Equity Through Telehealth Learning Series highlights the role of academic medicine in promoting and advancing health equity through telehealth.
