Dear colleagues,
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) are seeking your valuable input on the first draft of foundational competencies for undergraduate medical education. This work is part of a multi-year initiative led by the AAMC, AACOM and ACGME to create a common set of foundational competencies for use in undergraduate medical education programs in the United States. This initiative aligns with recommendations outlined in the Undergraduate Medical Education-Graduate Medical Education Review Committee (UGRC) and is part of a comprehensive effort to improve the transition to residency.
The AAMC, AACOM, and ACGME have engaged thought leaders from across academic medicine and collected input from numerous medical professionals, students, and patients. After months of analysis and in consultation with a distinguished advisory group, a project working group is sharing this iterative draft and soliciting input from the community.
All feedback must be submitted by February 12, 2024. Your participation in reviewing the competencies and providing feedback is vital to the creation of the Foundational Competencies. Please take the time to review the competencies and provide your feedback using the survey link provided.
Review the Competencies and provide your feedback here!
