My nearly 15-month-old son LOVES waving and saying "hi" to literally everyone we pass on the street, in the market, at the mall... even if they're literally 50 feet away from us. That said, I've had so many short conversations with strangers lately that his friendliness has forced me into, and I have to agree, it's a total mood booster.

Want a boost of happiness? New research shows that having short conversations with other people can make you happier (even if you get anxious at the very idea). Shallow conversations with strangers can bring about this mood boost. A new study in Science Advances demonstrates that even online conversations with total strangers on a video call can make people measurably happier.
No word on whether conversations between parents and teenagers were accounted for in this research.
