Thank you for this resource, Janet. Within it, I see only one question that assists us with determining if faculty recruits are committed to DEI: "Give an example of a time when you were able to create a supportive environment for a diverse team of people." At our institute, we also use, "We are
committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility as key priorities to strengthen our workforce. How have you promoted one or more of these priorities in your teaching, research, and/or scholarship?"
Are there resources that specifically address recruiting faculty who are committed to DEI? Do others have recommended questions?
Thanks for your thoughts and consideration.
Best,

Subject: Tip Tuesday: Interview Questions to Assess Job Candidate Attributes and Skills
Effective, fair interview questions are essential to identify candidates who will excel in the job and at your organization. A set of agreed-upon interview questions and topics is also helpful if candidates will meet with multiple interviewers. Effective interview questions can help you assess an applicant's emotional intelligence, resilience, results-orientation, communication skills, management skills, institutional orientation, problem-solving capacity, and more.
The AAMC has great resources to help you recruit and hire the best talent for your organization. This interview toolkit can be a valuable aid to the interviewing phase of your process: Candidate Attributes and Skill Sets.
