Headed to Atlanta next week? Here are some tips on how to make the most of the meeting. 

• Network. Connect with other attendees at networking events, during breaks, and at receptions. When you sit down for a concurrent session, introduce yourself to the people at your table. You already have one thing in common—You’re passionate about academic medicine! 
• Be an active learner. Take notes or photos of slides of interest and discuss what you learned with others. Share your favorite takeaways here in the Communities! For colleagues who haven’t attended the meeting, it’s a great way to learn more about what was covered. 
• Connect with colleagues. Find out which colleagues from your institution are attending the meeting (you can search the directory in the meeting app). Grab coffee or plan a team dinner at one of Atlanta’s many restaurants. Remember to debrief after the meeting too and make a plan to implement or follow up on at least one innovation or idea you picked up during the meeting.
• Access additional resources. Many of the slide decks as well as related resources will be available in the meeting app. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to speakers afterward to ask about other resources they mentioned during their presentation. 
• Get to the plenaries early. Each one starts with a musical performance. It’s a beautiful way to begin the day.  
• Learn more about the AAMC. There are lots of opportunities to meet staff and learn how you can engage with the AAMC. Stop by the AAMC Pavilion, the Peach Pit, the Monday evening poster reception, affinity group breakfasts, and more.  
• First-time attendees. Get an overview of the meeting and attend the info session and reception when you arrive on Friday. It's the perfect place to make a friend who is also new to the meeting.
