Tip Tuesday: What your dog can teach you about stress management

Joe Robinson, author of Work Smarter, Live Better: The Science-Based Work-Life Balance and Stress Management Toolkit, offers this great tip on managing the daily stresses that can cause us to feel overwhelmed:

Robinson says your brain needs "barking management," or the ability to let things go in order to return to work or to the task at hand. "Does your dog bark hours, days, months, or years after another dog walks past your yard? He drops the event as soon as it's over like it never happened. But that's not what humans do. We keep barking. We hang on to the event, and that's what causes our stress-but we don't have to."

Today I'm taking advice from Maddie who has a lot of loud big feelings about events that occur during the day, but who also quickly forgets them and moves on.
