I just wrapped an incredible conversation with Jarvis T. Gray on the Excellence in Healthcare podcast and wanted to share some of my reflections with you! We talked about what it takes to advance health equity: not just passion and policy, but true partnership. Here are a few key themes we explored:
- Leadership as Partnership: True leadership happens when we share power, elevate community voices, and lead with rather than for others.
- Trustworthiness > Trust: It's time we shift from asking "Why don't they trust us?" to "Have we earned that trust?"
- Community Engagement is Not a Checklist: Real engagement is long-term, local, and meaningful. No shortcuts.
- Health Equity is a Team Sport: Health care can't and shouldn't do it alone. We need multi-sector collaboration to move the needle.
Listen in for more. And I'd love to hear from you! What are your institution's health equity principles? 046_Building Trust and Partnership for Health Equity with Dr. Philip Alberti - Excellence In Healthcare Podcast
